As some of you might know, my beloved Trav S.D. is one of the forces behind the MarxFest, the city wide celebration of the Marx Brothers. I’ve been to many, many events, sketchbook in hand. Here are some of the results.
Trav gave a really terrific talk on the early years of the Brothers at Coney Island USA. Adding to the evening, the lovely Sarah Moskowitz played some vintage tunes on her uke.
The beauteous Bunny Buxom performed at the backers party (incidentally, when she stepped in to perform in Pinchbottom’s The Bawdy House at the last minute for an ailing Tansy, she killed). I drew her live, which isn’t usually my thing (i.e. I’m not fast enough, i.e. I’m not Luma Rouge), and this was the result.
Also at the backer’s party: dueling Grouchos. Jonny Porkpie and Noah Diamond. (this is getting a little fuzzy as your intrepid artist might have imbibed too many cheap cocktails).
Last night Trav introduced Duck Soup at MoMA, in an evening made completely out of happiness.
