I may get tired of turning people into mermaids at some point, but it hasn’t happened yet. This was inspired by an instagram photo posted by Kat Mon Dieu of she and the great Dirty Martini performing at Night of a Thousand Stevies.

I’m thrilled to announce that my previously sold out print, Sixteen Tentacles — Va Va VOOM!, is once again available for sale. This time on my Society6 store - my lovely octomaids grace pillows, cards, and iphone/ipad cases.
The lovely and always hilarious Sara Benincasa commissioned a portrait from me which I finished yesterday. As she is (among many other things) the Jezebel advice columnist, we decided that all the starfish would seek advice from mermaid Sara. Please don’t ask me how ink works under water. It JUST DOES.
I finally got around to reading her book, Agorafabulous, which just came out in paperback this week, and it’s excellent. It’s the very, very funny autobiographical story of her anxiety disorder, how she got better and how she became a comedian. It’s totally worth your time and you should all read it. (I’ll likely be writing something more substantial about it in the very near future).

Look! I made pillows (and I’m a little drunk).
I’ve really gone mad with all the posting.
I have so many new things to post, it’s a little overwhelming.
For now, I’ve added a bunch of new things to my Etsy shop available for your perusal. I’ve attached a sampling.
I can’t seem to stop drawing mermaids. This was done as a study for a larger Coney Island project, but I’m not sure I’ll end up using it.
On another note, I’ve been using Stillman & Birn sketchbooks for about a year now, and the paper quality is really out of this world. It’s such a joy to draw on and can stand up to a lot of wet. There’s no going back. /unpaid endorsement.
